Shekel Down, Dollar Outpaces Euro

The official value of the shekel declined by an average of .396 percent, Thursday, against most of the currencies featured on the Bank of Israel's foreign exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.721, up .568 percent from Wednesday's rate, while the Euro rose only .332 percent to 4.929 shekels.

The pound sterling was set at NIS 5.8996, up .289 percent, while 100 Japanese yen rose .112 percent to 4.8156. The lone currency declining against the shekel was the South African rand, which fell .55 percent to NIS .4879.
