The Chief Ashkenazic Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yona Metzger has sent a letter to the rabbis of Israel calling to express our gratitude to G-d for the abundant rain of blessing we have already experienced this year in Israel. Rabbi Metzger said, “We are full of gratitude for abundant rain after years of drought. The blessing is complete, as there are no reports of flooding or other discomfort due to the rain. We must also be grateful that despite the difficult world economic situation, Israel’s economy is, thank G-d, steadfast and stable.”

Community rabbis are requested to incorporate special sentiments of gratitude into the regular prayer service, in a unique proscribed emendation of the Sabbath ‘Nishmat Kol Chai’ liturgy.
