Gush Katif Trees to be Replanted in Bnei Netzarim

Jews who were evicted from Gaza by the government in the Disengagement program of 2005 will gather from around the country for Tu B'Shvat on Wednesday in Bnei Netzarim, in the sands of Chalutza, to hold a common planting of trees that were uprooted with them.

The trees were sent to a "way station" at the nursery in the northern Negev community of Gilat, with the intention that they would be replanted in permanent communities for the evictees three years later. An additional three-and-a-half years have passed and not all the evictees are in permanent communities, but they will either take part in the common planting or plant the trees in the various communities where they live. Chairman Doron Ben Shlomi expressed hope that the day would come when the people and the trees will return to Gush Katif.
