Olympic Committee Ordered to Pay Educational TV NIS 50K

The Tel Aviv District Court ordered the Israeli Olympic Committee, Sunday, to pay 50,000 shekels to Educational Television because of the Olympic Committee's Shpitzik mascot. The station had sued, claiming Shpitzik was a clear imitation of its mythological Kishkashta cactus character.

In addition to the payment, the court ordered that the Olympic Committee immediately cease use of Shpitzik and that it destroy the means by which it produced the plagiarism. Attorneys for the committee said they had received copies of the ruling and were studying it.
