High Court: Couples Working Together Must File Together

The Supreme Court ruled, Sunday, that couples who work together are not allowed to file separate tax returns. The precedent-setting decision overturned three district-court rulings. In the past, separate filings were allowed under certain conditions.

If one of the annual salaries, based on a 36-hour work week outside a couple's residence, falls below 48,960 shekels, the couple may qualify for separate calculation of the tax. For further details, they should see an accountant or tax attorney.
