Most of featured indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted modest to sharp gains on Sunday. The TA composite index rose .71 percent to 1,014.43, while the TA 100 closed at 1,024.71, up .72 percent, including a .67 advance to 1,128.81 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 rose 1.29 percent to 360.27.
Leading the gainers were the biomed issues, which jumped 2.57 percent to 764.41, while the rest of the technology index rose 1.9 percent to 291.79. Despite the new discovery off the Mediterranean coast, the oil and natural gas stocks only rose 1.04 percent, closing at 1,274.22, while the real estate issues finished the first day of the trading week at 286.75, up .62 percent and the communications index rose a quarter of a percent to 716.45. With bank stocks rising 1.43 percent to 1,013.94, the financial institutions rose .68 percent to 932.59, despite a .81 percent loss by the insurance issues to 1,062.65.
