Egypt's Advisory Council, made up of civilians who advise the ruling military council, said that the country should hold early elections as a way of quelling recent unrest. Riots broke out in several parts of Cairo and other cities over the weekend, and a government building was burned down. Egyptians are angry over the killing of 74 people at a soccer game in Port Sa'id last week.

A spokesperson for the Council said that it would consider shutting down operations and halting its meetings if elections on forming a government were not moved up. Egypt last week completed its parliamentary elections, but the presidential elections are scheduled for later this year.
