    Ban Slams Russia, China Veto

UN Secretary-Genera Ban ki-Moon said Saturday night that Russia and China's veto of a resolution calling for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down was undermining the authority of the world body. A spokesperson for the UN said that Ban “deeply regrets” the vetoes, because it undermined “ the role of the United Nations and the international community in this period when the Syrian authorities must hear a unified calling for an immediate end to its violence against the Syrian people.”

Ban added that the more difficulty the UN Security Council had in passing such resolutions, the more difficult it would be to resolve to take action to fix difficult world problems.
