IDF Assisted by Hareidi PR Firm

For the first time, the Israel Defense Forces are being assisted by a public relations and strategic consulting office from the hareidi-religious sector to market the subject of hareidim, their enlistment and their integration and activities in the IDF, according to a Friday morning report by Kol Yisrael government radio. Media adviser Ya'akov Bichler has been working with the IDF and its Personnel Department since January and held a news conference with the head of the personnel branch which was limited to hareidi reporters.

The IDF Spokesman said in response that "The IDF is attempting to reach every inductee and understands the uniqueness of the hareidi sector. Therefore the personnel branch is being assisted by a consulting office related to the mission, subject to a competitive bid and approval of the IDF Spokesman." A military source noted that the IDF Spokesman's Office itself has established a religious department which will specialize in religious media in light of its understanding of the subject.
