Livni to Ban: Urgent Need to Renew Negotiaons with PA

Opposition leader Tzipi Livni told Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon of the United Nations, Thursday evening, that "there is an urgent need for a renewal of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. Upheavals in the Middle East and the takeover of the extremists in the region further reduce the window of opportunity for a political settlement - and we must strive to achieve it with the moderate elements in the region before it's too late."

Livni praised Ban on his strongly statements against the firing of Kassam rockets [at Israeli targets on Wednesday] and said "Israeli citizens appreciate the fact that you came to visit thebombarded towns and uttered your emphatic position against the fire. No country would ever have accepted fire on its citizens and the international community will do well to make it clear in word and deed that attacks on civilians by terrorist groups are unacceptable and must stop."
