Three Years Prison for First-Time Cattle Rustler

A three-judge panel of the Nazareth District Court rejected, Thursday, the appeal of a man convicted of stealing calves against the severity of the three-year sentence he received in a plea-bargaining agreement. It was the convicted rustler's first offense

Director-General Chaim Dayan of the of the Beef Cattle Growers' Association welcomed the decision, noting that livestock theft in Israel rose 58 percent in 2011 to 2,480 head, although it was down 26 percent in the north. He expressed home that measures to successfully prosecute rustlers in the north would also be implemented in the south and center of the country.
