Modest gains were posted in the first half hour of trading, Tuesday, at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The TA composite index stood at 1,004.04, up .46 percent from Monday's close, while the TA 100 rose half a percent to 1,013.72, including a .58 percent rise to 1,119.74 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
The financial institutions led the way, rising .89 percent to 919.32. The same percentage meant a 1,004.63 posting for the bank stocks, while the insurance index rose seven tenths of a percent to 1,041.86. The communications issues rose .81 percent to 696.21, followed by the oil and natural gas index at 1,281.93, up .78 percent, and the real estate stocks, which rose .52 percent to 280.48. The biomed issues stood at 749.60, up a tenth of a percent, while the rest of the technology index advanced .04 percent to 285.85.
