Ministers OK 2 Women on Rabbinical Judge Committee

The Ministerial Committee on Legislation endorsed, Sunday afternoon, a bill by Chairwoman Tzipi Hotovely of the Knesset Committee for Advancing the Status of Women that would reserve two seats for women on the committee to select rabbinical-court judges.

MK reacted by saying, "It's a major amendment to insure consideration of women's interests in appointing judges who affecting  divorce arrangements. This is an important elevation above the narrow political considerations, among and between maintaining the status quo or hurting religion."
