Ministry: 165,000 Working Women Harassed in 2011

About 165,000 working women were sexually harassed in 2011, according to figures released, Sunday, by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor. The number amounts to 11.4 percent of the female work force.

In announcing the statistics, Minister Shalom Simchon said, "Victims of harassment in society are many, when the injury, you must know, goes even far beyond the direct victims, and influence on other circles, and an organization as a whole. Incidents of sexual harassment, beyond their crime and seriousness, join a series of barriers, at different levels of severity, that women face when they want to join the work force or move up in it.
