The Kadima party council approved, Thursday evening, the proposal by Chairwoman Tzipi Livni to hold primaries for leadership of the party on March 27th. The council also approved the nomination of retired Magistrates Court judge Edna Beckenstein to head the party's election committee.
Also approved was the composition of the elections committee, which will include members agreed upon via the recommendations of the candidates themselves. It was agreed that if a candidate withdraws from the race, the committee member recommended by the candidate will terminate his membership on the committee immediately. One of the members of the committee will be a woman, chosen by consensus.
