Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted modest to sharp gains to close out the trading week on Thursday. The TA composite index finished the day at 1,013.52, up .83 percent, while the TA 100 rose .93 percent to 1,022.33, including a 1.24 percent increase to 1,127.56 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
The bank stocks led the gainers, jumping 2.59 percent to 1,009.65 as the financial institutions closed at 925.33, up 1.3 percent, in spite of a .86 percent by the insurance index to 1,055.81. The real-estate issues closed at 281.46, up 1.46 percent. Next came most of the technology stocks, which rose an average of 1.32 percent to 289.39, while the biomed index fell 1.48 percent to 763.50. The oil and gas issues finished the day at 1,293.79, up .19 percent and the communications stocks rose .17 percent to 702.84.
