Barak: Extend Tal Law By One Year

Despite his criticism of it, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that he was in favor of extending the Tal Law on regulating the draft of Hareidi Jews into the IDF. Barak told government officials Wednesday that he planned to officially propose that the law be extended by a year at Sunday's cabinet meeting.

Barak said that the one year extension should be used to find a different approach to regulating the draft of Hareidim, because the Tal Law had failed to resolve many of the issues involved in the draft.
