The Brill shoe factory will be closed and 200 workers in the factory are expected to be sent home soon, because of the Defense Ministry's decision to stop purchasing the boots from the factory and purchase them from the United States.

Brill currently provides the ministry with standard military boots, light boots for combat soldiers and boots for female soldiers. The purchase is part of a military aid agreement with the U.S. which has been cited in the past for having a similar effect on the Israeli suppliers of other parts of military uniforms.
