The Brill shoe factory will be closedand 200workers in the factoryare expectedto be sent home soon,because ofthe Defense Ministry's decisionto stop purchasingthebootsfrom the factoryandpurchasethem from the United States.
Brill currently provides the ministry with standard military boots, light boots for combat soldiers and boots for female soldiers. The purchase is part of a military aid agreement with the U.S. which has been cited in the past for having a similar effect on the Israeli suppliers of other parts of military uniforms.
