Report: Arab League to Consider Extending Syria Mission

Officials of the Arab League announced, Thursday, that its foreign ministers are scheduled to meet in Cairo, Sunday, to consider renewing the league's month-old fact-finding mission in Syria, which expired Thursday, according to a Friday report by the Associated Press.

Arab League monitors will stay in Syria, pending the decision. The death toll since they arrived passed the 600 mark Thursday, when at least 20 people were killed in clashes between government and opposition forces, including two Syrian army officers. Residents of the city of Zabadani reported that forces loyal to President Bashar Al-Assad withdrew as part of a cease-fire signed with the opposition.
