Modest to moderate gains were posted in early trading at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, Tuesday morning. The TA composite index rose 1.04 percent to 1,019.52, while the TA 100 stood at 1,028.62, up 1.12 percent, including a 1.15 percent gain by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
The leading gainers were the bank stocks, which rose 1.67 percent to 993.07 as the financial institutions posted a figure of 939.41, up 1.19 percent after about 20 minutes of trading, including a .71 percent gain to 1,139.32 by the insurance index. The oil and natural gas issues rose 1.44 percent to 1,292.67, while the same percentage gain meant a 280.46 posting for the real estate stocks. With most of the technology issues rising .8 percent to 287.09, the biomed index rose .7 percent to 797.98.
Despite a moment of sluggishness, the exchange's website showed no signs of suffering from Monday's attack by hackers.
