Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Monday that the Tal Law, which provides exemptions to yeshiva students from serving in the IDF, should be extended by one more year, to give it one more chance. Speaking to the two other MKs in his Atzama'ut faction, Barak said that law “has not fulfilled the hopes we placed on it 10 years ago. We should extend it by one year, and decide on a strategy to solve the problem.”
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Monday that he intended to ask ministers to extend the law by another five years.
