Eldad: Mofaz Should Quit

Member of Knesset Aryeh Eldad (National Union) said, Monday, that Shaul Mofaz (Kadima) should quit as chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, following Mofaz's suspension of Monday's committee meeting against a backdrop of claims that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was trying to smear him.

Professor Eldad, who serves on the committee, said that Mofaz "made the Foreign Affairs and Defense committee a political platform in his Kadima primaries and is keeping the Committee from effective supervision on the work of government. The Foreign Affairs and Defense committee is not a gathering of  activists of a dying and crumbling party, and a committee chairman who acts as if it is is not worthy to continue in this capacity. He should quit his position as MK Shelly Yachimovich did in the Ethics Committee - to devote himself to his primaries."
