Member of Knesset Aryeh Eldad (National Union) said, Monday, that Shaul Mofaz (Kadima) should quit as chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, following Mofaz's suspension of Monday's committee meeting against a backdrop of claims that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was trying to smear him.
Professor Eldad, who serves on the committee, said that Mofaz "made the Foreign Affairs and Defense committeeapoliticalplatformin his Kadima primariesandis keepingthe Committeefrom effective supervisionon the work ofgovernment. The Foreign Affairs and Defense committee is not a gathering of activists of a dying and crumbling party,and acommittee chairmanwho acts as if it is is not worthy to continue in this capacity.He should quit his positionas MK ShellyYachimovich did in the Ethics Committee-todevotehimself to his primaries."
