Newly Unemployed Down 8.6% in December

The Employment Service released figures, Monday, that put Israel's unemployment for the end of December at 182,300, up 100 from November. The small increase was interpreted as a sign of stability in the employment market. Adding to the appraisal was an 8.6 percent drop in the number of people losing or quitting their jobs from 13,372 in November to 12,555 in December.

The demand for workers dropped 12.9 percent from 27,100 in November to 23,600 last month, down 15.7 percent from 28,000 in December 2010.
