Latest Ephraim Division Arrestees Had Alibis, Released

Two Efrat youths who were arrested before dawn, Sunday morning, on suspicion of involvement in the recent riot at the headquarters of the Israel Defense Force's Ephraim Division, were released, Sunday afternoon, after they provided an alibi, according to the Honenu legal-aid organization.

Honenu noted that the arrest warrants were issued on December 15th and, for whatever reason, the police decided to carry out the arrests just now, "perhaps to present evidence of progress in the investigation," similar to the case of a teenager arrested last week on the basis of an eight-year-old picture in a book of mug shots which bore no resemblance to him and released with an alibi. Honenu added, "In a modern state a suspect can be summoned for questioning and determine the claims. There is no need to break into houses at 4:00 AM."
