The government has approved Israel’s membership in ESLI Sunday. The institute was established by the Czech government to restore Jewish property and promote holocaust research and education. the government has decided that the Senior Citizens Ministry, led by Deputy Minister Leah Ness will represent Israel at the institute.
The government has also decided to hold a joint ‘Requiem to Verdi’ concert featuring Israeli and Czech musicians, at the Israel Festival. The concert will be in memory of the inmates of the Theresienstadt Ghetto, that was known to have upheld a high cultural standard, under the given circumstances, even as the Nazis made regular transports from there to Auschwitz.
