IDF commando soldiers toured the Temple Mount in Jerusalem in full uniform as part of an educational tour. They were guided by Rabbi Yehuda Glick who stated that there was a "special relationship of paratroopers to the Temple Mount... we see that it was not dangerous. I hope it's the start of a new era, and that every soldier in the IDF will tour the Temple Mount."
The Temple Mount is the site of the Beis HaMikdash, or Holy Temple, considered the holiest site in the Jewish religion. It currently houses the Dome of the Rock and Al Aksa mosque and is under the jurisdiction of the Muslim Waqf.
