Noam Shalit: Gilad Recovering Nicely Ahead of Discharge

Noam Shalit said, Tuesday morning, that his son, Gilad, who was held by terrorists for almost six-and-a-half years, is recovering nicely and has finished de-briefing about his ordeal. The older Shalit said he expects Gilad will soon face a medical board to determine his status before his official release from the Israel Defense Forces.

Speaking at a news conference to officially announce his candidacy for the Knesset as a member of the Labor party, Noam said that Israeli society contributed to his family at its time of need and he hoped to return the favor. He said his candidacy was planned well before this week's announcement by journalist Yair Lapid that he too was going to run for Knesset.
