First: Barak Associate Visits Ulpana Neighborhood

Industry, Commerce and Labor Minister Shalom Simchon visited the Ulpana (religious girls' high school) neighborhood in the Binyamin-region Jewish community of Beit El on Monday. The community faces demolition under a Supreme Court order. Simchon is the first member of Defense Minister Ehud Barak's Atzma'ut party to visit the neighborhood as part of a campaign by National Union Party Chairman Ya'akov Katz to show lawmakers what's at stake.

Residents of the neighborhood informed Simchon that Barak was prime minister when the government gave them incentives to move there. Simchon promised to examine the matter with the defense minister to seek a way of returning peace of mind to the neighborhood.
