The Ministerial Committee on Legislation endorsed, Monday, a bill to prohibit the inappropriate use of Nazi and Holocaust monikers and symbols. Under the bill, people convicted of a violation will face a six-month jail sentence and a 100,000-shekel fine.

The bill's sponsor, Member of KnessetUri Ariel (National Union), welcomed the vote, adding, "Unfortunately,recent years have seena cynicalexploitationof Nazisymbols andnicknamesviolating thefeelings of Holocaust survivors,their familiesandmany morepeoplein Israel.The lawwill constitutea properdeterrentpunishmentin lawandproperanchorforsuchdespicable use."
