President Nili Arad of the National Labor Court in Jerusalem is scheduled to hold a decisive hearing, Monday, on the request by the Histadrut Labor Federation to hold a general strike on the issue of contract labor. No agreement has been reached between the union and the treasury, the Center for Local Government and employers. Chairman Ofir Eini will take part in the hearing.
At issue is the hiring of employees through employment agencies, which provides the workers with no benefits or job security. There have also been complaints that places of employment that contract with the personnel agencies take unfair advantage of the contract laborers. The union seeks to have the workers hired as tenured employees.
