Unilever,the fourth largestfood companyin Israel,began the process oflayoffsandreducingitsworkforce on Thursday.According to a company statement,"Unilever is continuallylooking at an internalstreamliningprocesses.As part ofthis, the company is reducing staff by a few dozen employeesout of total of 2,500."
The company is offeringpeople who are approachingretirement agevoluntary retirementprogramunder preferential conditions. In addition, the process will includeoperationalconsolidationof thecompany's headquarters. The statement concluded, "We believe thattheseprocessesareanother means ofmaintaining thestrength of thecompanyand its future."
