Most of the major indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange showed modest to moderate gains in mixed trading on Thursday. The TA composite index closed at 998.65, up .06 percent, while the TA 100 rose .11 percent to 1,006.76, including a 1,113.23, finish, up .15 percent by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
Leading the gainers were the biomed stocks, which rose 1.18 percent to 755.65, while the rest of the technology index fell three tenths of a percent to 277.58. The oil and natural gas stocks finished the last day of the first trading week of 2012 at 1,214.27, up 1.15 percent, followed by the communications issues, which rose .67 percent to 765.60. The bank stocks closed at 978.21, up .61 percent, leading the financial institutions to a 909.34 close, up .23 percent, while the insurance index declined .58 percent to 1,071.66 and the real estate issues closed at 277.25, up .13 percent.
