The Meteorological Service on Monday said that the past ten years had been the hottest in Israel's history. Temperatures in Israel have been rising since the 1990s' – and the rate of growth is somewhat behind the rest of the world, where average temperatures have been rising since the 1950s. Since the establishment of the state, the average temperature in Israel is up by a half a degree celsius.

Average rainfall for the past decade, the Service said, is about what it has been for the past 90 years, since records first started being kept.
