The Knesset Economics Committee said Monday that the Health Minister was authorized to develop warnings that would be placed on bottles of alcoholic beverages. The discussion took place at the request of MK Uri Maklev (UTJ). The labels are a component of a law proposed by MK Danny Danon (Likud) on how alcohol may be advertised.
Pending passage of the bill, all alcoholic beverages will be required to display a warning label, telling drinkers that excessive drinking could endanger their lives. The Health Minister is now authorized to develop different warnings that will be attached to various products, depending on which age group the product is aimed at.
