Starting Monday, drivers over the age of 40 will have to undergo a vision test once every 10 years as a condition for renewing their driver's licenses. The decision by Transportation and Road Safety Minister Yisrael Katz follows a study, commissioned by the ministry, which shows a deterioration in vision, starting at that age.
The test will be administered by any optometrist recognized by the Health Ministry. The License Authority will notify drivers three months in advance.
