Hamas Gaza leader Ismail Haniyeh boarded the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara, Monday, during a stop in Turkey as part of his regional tour. Nine Turkish activists were killed about a year and a half ago, after they attacked Israeli commandos who diverted the ship from its goal of breaking the Gaza naval barrier.
Speaking to Israel as he addressed the families of the activists, Haniyeh said, "You succeeded at preventing the Marmara from reaching Gaza, but now Gaza and Palestine reached the Marmara. I declare a victory by the blood of the martyrs who were killed here over the siege and over the occupation." Speaking to the families, he said, "Don't think that the martyrs died in vain. They continue to live here among us. I bless the families of the victims from the Marmara and the courageous Turkish Muslim people."
