NIS 50 Million for Poland-Trip Subsidies

Education Minister Gid'on Sa'ar told the Knesset State Control Committee, Monday, that the ministry will spend 50 million shekels, starting in 2012, to subsidize trips to Poland by public school students in order to remove the economic barrier to the experience. He said the subsidy will enable the state to double the number of participants to 40,000.

Sa'ar presented results of a survey which showed that a majority of students who make the trip gives them national pride and a stronger connection with their Jewish past and common Jewish destiny. The trip also contributes to their Holocaust studies, an understanding of the importance of the Israel Defense Forces and the meaning of blind hatred.
