High Court Orders Another Dirani Hearing

The Supreme Court ordered, Monday morning, another discussion by an expanded panel on the suit filed by Lebanese militia member Mustafa Dirani, alleging abuse while he was in Israeli custody. Dirani was one of hundreds of Arab security prisoners released in 2004 for the bodies of three Israeli soldiers and businessman-reserves officer Elchanan Tenenbaum.

At issue is whether the court should dismiss the suit out of hand, at this point, since Dirani is in a country officially at war with Israel and involved in hostile activity. The court wants to clarify the issue before making its decision.
