Defense Minister Ehud Barak is appearing before the Knesset's State Control Committee, Monday morning, as it discusses the state comptroller's opinion regarding the transfer of money to companies formerly owned by Barak before he was appointed. The comptroller determined that days before the appointment, Barak acted against public norms expected of a minister or a nominee.
The State Comptrollerbelieves that"a highand significantbehavioral standard shouldbe set for candidates forministerial roles, requiring them to be super stringent in the management of their affairs, ensuringno doubt asto the propriety of theiractionsorraising concernswhatsoever. These requirements are demanded of ministersanddeputy ministers, whether candidates or serving, given the high level of their public mission andtopreventdamage topublic confidencein its elected officials."
