There was a significant increase in terror attacks during December - especially in Jerusalem - when compared to November, according to the monthly report released on Sunday by the Shabak Israel Security Agency. There was a total of 81 attacks last month, compared to 44 the previous month, 51 of them around Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria. A majority, 48 involved the throwing of firebombs, resulting in two Israelis - one civilian and one member of the security forces - being wounded, all of the incidents taking place around the capital and in Judea and Samaria. A member of the security services was stabbed at a checkpoint as well
The number of attacks in the Jerusalem area grew from seven to 25, while attacks originating in Hamas-controlled Gaza rose to 30 from 11. The Gaza numbers included 30 rockets and 11 mortar shells, as compared to ten rockets and one mortar shell in November. The total for Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria included an additional stabbing, the detonation of an explosive and a shooting with a light weapon.
