MKs Slam Use of Holocaust Imagery in Protest

MKs and political leaders condemned the use of Holocaust imagery in the demonstration by Hareidim Saturday night against media defamation of their community. Kadima head Tsipi Livni said that use of the yellow star and the wearing of concentration camp uniforms by children was very damaging to them. “There is no protest that can justify this. Within the debate between us there are limits that cannot be crossed. I hope that the heads of the Hareidi community will condemn these actions and those who did them.”

MK Nachman Shai (Kadima) called the use of the uniforms “a crossing of a red line.” MK Yoel Hasson (Kadima) said he would enact legislation against use of such imagery in protests. Those who violate the law would be fined up to NIS 100,000.
