Knesset Rejects Bill to Prohibit "Racism"

The Knesset plenum rejected on Wednesday the preliminary reading of a bill that would have prohibited the publication of racist material or inciting racial hatred. The bill also would have expanded the definition of racism and made racism both a criminal and civil offense punishable by law. 24 Members of Knesset supported the proposal and 35 opposed it.
