Most of the major indices at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted modest declines at the start of trading on Tuesday. The TA composite index opened at 993.70, down .18 percent, while TA 100 slipped .19 percent to 1,003.05, including a .14 decline to 1,121.95 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
The lone gain was posted by the insurance index, which rose .35 percent to 1,007.65, as the financial institutions declined .23 percent to 892.51, including a .52 percent drop by the bank stocks to 975.00. Real estate stocks opened at 269.28, down two tenths of a percent, while the oil and natural gas index fell .28 percent to 1,150.19 and the communications issues stood at 771.58, down .32 percent. The biomed stocks declined .38 percent to 719.50 while the other technology issues opened at 275.38, down .61 percent.
