The Israel Hotel Association summed up 2011, Monday, with statistics similar to those of 2010. The 21 million visits were divided evenly between Israelis and foreign residents. Occupancy rates stood at 65.4 percent.
Association President Ami Federman called on the government to develop an active policy that would result in operating costs that could be passed on in the form of lower hotel rates. The industry employs about 34,000 people.
