Robo Rat, a rodent with a hybrid composition of a biological brain and a synthetic device has been invented at Tel Aviv University. Matti Mintz of the department of psychology says the experiment involved wiring a computer chip with a man-made segment of cerebellum alongside the skull of a rodent with a disabled cerebellum. The device allowed the rat to return to normal activity. Mintz says the experiment may have ramifications for patients who have suffered brain injury, or neurological diseases such as Parkinson's disease.
