Orlev: Policy Needed for Evictions Involving Children

Chairman Zevulun Orlev of the Knesset Committee on the Rights of the Child said, Tuesday, "There is a coalition that crosses party lines, united around the stance that we must establish a policy for case where it is decided, by law to uproot a house where children live."

During a followup hearing by the committee regarding evictions of children from Jewish outpost communities in Judea and Samaria, a mother from Migron testified about emotional and behavior problems among their children following a middle-of-the-night eviction there. Orit Strook of the Judea and Samaria Human Rights Organization said that false alarms are also disruptive. A representative of the Public Safety Ministry said the police want a policy but the military refuses to cooperate.
