MK Ariel Slams Prosecutors over Supervisory Panel

Member of Knesset Uri Ariel criticized the State Prosecutor's Office, Monday, for its latest delay in submitting its recommendation for establishing a supervisory body to monitor the office. Speaking during a meeting of the Knesset State Control Committee, the National Union lawmaker said the claims accompanying the delays indicate a "blatant contempt by the attorney general and senior members of the State Prosecutor's Office for Knesset members".

Ariel said the committee has tried eight times to get recommendations and that the prosecutors want to avoid a proposal for a supervisory committee. He added that it was a case of bureaucrats who want to be the only ones without a supervisory body, essentially to be above the law.
