Tens of thousands of Tunisians participated in the unveiling of a statue of Mohamed Bouazizi, the man whose self-immolation kicked off the Arab Spring revolutions. The statue was unveiled in the spot where he set himself afire, in the town of Sidi Bouzid, as thousands of people carried Tunisian flags and waved his photo.

In a speech at the ceremony, new Tunisian president Moncef Marzouki  said "Thank you to this land, which has been marginalized for centuries, for bringing dignity to the entire Tunisian people.”
