Russia offered a new, beefed-up draft resolution on the violence in Syria to the UN Security Council on Thursday, Reuters reported.
According to the report, Western countries have said for the first time they were willing to negotiate over the Russian resolution, offering a chance for the Security Council to overcome its deadlock and issue the 15-nation panel’s first resolution on Syria’s bloody nine-month-old crackdown on opposition protesters.
