Brigadier General Nitzan Alon will be named to head the Israel Defense Forces' Central Command, Arutz Sheva learned, Thursday evening. The former head of the Judea and Samarian Division had a tenuous relationship with area residents due to his profiling of soldiers living in the area as risks to the government's program to uproot and demolish Jewish communities.
Nationalist leaders decried the nomination. Member of Knesset Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) said that the position called for someone with less extreme views. Similar views were expressed by Noam Federman and Baruch Marzel.
